This dormitory for a private secondary school in southern Vermont was designed to be a teaching tool for the community. Passive solar strategies, energy conservation and the use of trees and stone from the campus for building material reinforced the sustainable focus of the project. Local artisans’ and student work were incorporated into the project. This dorm includes accommodations for twenty-four students and three resident faculty members and their families. The facility includes an elevator and is completely accessible.
